Let’s Add Some High Definition AVCHD to Our Toolbox - Canon VIXIA HD
I recently bought a Cannon VIXIA HD. With 3 PCs, all Vista, a Vista 64 I thought it would be easy to transfer files from Cannon to my pc's.
Well, not quite. One of the unique selling points for me was a video of Dave Helmly, Adobe vide guru who sings the praises of the camera, it is capable of and ease of use on Youtube.
I think the heart of this problem is relatively new, not yet quite ready for prime-time file type. I understand the new Smart Standardization - butMy experience is quaint.
I began by reading from the camera memory - with my first PC and could not read through a USB port. I spoke with Canon and was advised to try the USB port on the back of my pc too. With this port made the difference, and I could read directly from the camera! Obviously, this compressed data, with its high-speed transmission requirements are actually the difference appears at a port on a PC able to read it, others do not. The first PC has Adobe CS4,Premiere Pro, software that can read these files mts2, but "Windows" does not recognize them.
My second read, something seems to be a newer PC with a faster USB port, not from the camera memory, but unfortunately do not have Premiere Pro CS4, the latest software release. It's Premiere Pro CS4, that recognizes the mst0 file type, not the operating system. So you can open the file with the application from Adobe, but Windows does not recognize it? This is a way of looking at it is.
Now is the fun partRead the removable SD memory card. My second PC with a faster port recognizes the card, displays the files in the AVCHD documented rigid directory structure - does not recognize the files. The first PC does not recognize the SD card. I put the card into the SD memory card slot, and … nothing, no thing, no sound, no new drive. However, if you recognize the memory card into a USB converter, then into USB port, either the USB port on the front or faster connection in the back, it works'. This isthe PC with CS4. I can handle files with Premiere Pro or After Effects. Adobe CS4 supports this new format.
A little sound complicated? Well, it is!
Most of this unpredictable behavior is the lag time between new technologies and desktop systems are catching up.
It is a kind of "Future Now 'funny and habits that we have. What if you can now read data from an SD memory card copy to your PC, a composition, you create a movie, you begin to realize is do not copy it necessary toAll up and down!
It is too easy to jump from the memory card without tape reading time with "instant read" access to film!
I have a great time with my first few days of High Def, mts2 files had.
So, what is AVCHD? A mix of high-def compression with Dolby sound, which needs to read a very fast time. Although Premiere Pro recognizes the file format - you get a delay notice, as you are tracking the timeline to preview your movies. It can not simplyRead it so quickly.
(See Wikipedia)
"AVCHD is a format for recording and playback of high definition video. Video in MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format, and audio recorded in Dolby Digital. [1] AVCHD and its logo are trademarks of Panasonic Corporation and Sony Corporation [ 2]. "
I believe the future is now. If your media is little solid-state memory cards, if they can not tape in the camera when you realize you directly from these cards actually read muchfaster than the hard drive, and … experiment but to secure for real projects (as opposed to, you can find your way through the woods mts2), there is really no need to copy on your hard disk, you feel the future is now.
And we have not even on the part of the production still get.
It's embarrassing, and I have tried to copy everything back and forth on the laptop, Vista, Vista 64 - and there are some simple definitions —
A simple one: CS4 know AVCHD/mts2, and any previousRelease no.
But is it worth it? well, in a word, yes. These pictures are brilliant … and for all the comedy and difficulty of working through the file types and exchange SDHC memory cards and USB converter, and between PC's —
There is a new world of color and definition, high definition for our web pages.
And hey, we're just starting.

Adobe After Effects has been my application of choice, and it seems to have endless possibilities. I use Premiere Pro for video, Flash for the final Web-compatible movie. I'm on a constant learning curve, and regularly update my media page. Most of my clients' websites include some flash, video, rich media advertising, "window dressing" with a focus on their products and services.

I have an eclectic collection of my enthusiasm with Tennessee wildlife and nature, animation, special effects, sprinkled with a little music at the top. I have created advertising, media and instructional videos for my clients. I regularly add new tools to my toolbox.

| Review by drenchedinwine (NYC) 2010-07-07 I bought this laptop for grad school after looking into several thin-and-light laptops with long battery life. I will be commuting several hours in the subway and staying on campus more or less all day, so I wanted a laptop that would be relatively light to schlep, and have a long battery life to last all day without being plugged in. | Review by David S. Nay (Palm Desert) 2010-07-26 I had been using a netbook and liked the size and battery life it provided...however, I'm in my 70's and dealing with the small font, not to mention the slow speed of the netbook, I was growing tired of the netbook in general. When I read the reviews on this laptop I ordered one right off the bat. Most impressed with the battery life (I would guess... Read more reviews | ||

| Review by Jason (Cambridge, MA) 2010-07-14 I purchased a very similar timeline from another website 3810tz-4402. As far as I can tell, the main difference between the 4806 and the 4402 is that the 4806 has 64 MB of dedicated video RAM while the 4402 borrows system RAM for the video. The other specs all look the same to me. The other difference is the price. I was able to find the 4402 f... Read more reviews | ||
